The variety of chess pieces that is available grows each year. If there is a certain theme or material that you are fond of, you can probably find it in a chess piece. There are different places where you can find these sets, but an online store that specializes in them will give you the best variety.
There are two main factors that contribute to which chess pieces a person picks. The first is what the pieces are made of. Some people love the feel of wood pieces, others like the weight of metal. Glass pieces have become popular recently, and are very nice to look at.
The other factor people look at in chess pieces is what the shape or theme of them is. Some people only like playing with the classic chess pieces. Others like having real-looking people on the board, often dressed in medieval or military garb.
